Siramik cow parsley bowl in light blue

Description

A delightful hand thrown in earthenware clay bowl. Coloured with light blue slip (liquid clay with a colour added) altered, pierced and carved using the scrafitto method. The bowl will then dry completely and fired for the first time at 1080 degrees Celsius. It will then be glaze with a transparent glaze and fired again in the glaze firing at 1100 degrees Celsius.

As each product is individually hand thrown on the potters wheel and therefore unique, slight variables in size and colour are possible, but this is kept to a minimum. The bowl is available in light blue colour, a dark blue navy colour and a green colour.

How this was made

Hand thrown in white earthenware clay, coloured with slip and altered on the rim. Pierced with a hole cutter varieties of sizes and carved using the scrafitto method. Dried completely before firing its first time in an electric kiln (28 hours from start to finish). The biscuit fired bowl is then covered in transparent glaze, dried again and using the hole cutter the glaze is moved from all the holes so that they are open. It is then fired again in an electric kiln to 1100 degrees Celsius (again 26 hours).
